Richard B. Ancowitz is a litigator dedicated to aggressively protecting the rights of the injured and is especially focused on the needs those whose rights require the greatest care: children, senior citizens, and small businesses.
In addition to having hosted “The Legal Rights and Wrongs Show” on internet radio, Mr. Ancowitz also lectures to bar associations and civic groups on new developments in the law that affect injury related matters.
Mr. Ancowitz has served the New York State Court system for over 15 years as an arbitrator and mediator, and also serves as arbitrator for FINRA (formerly NASD) in the areas of employment law, investor fraud and commercial disputes. Since 1999, he has served the American Arbitration Association as Master Arbitrator for No-Fault insurance disputes, by appointment of the Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department.
In addition, since 1995 Mr. Ancowitz has been principal author and editor-in-chief of “Weitz on Automobile Litigation: The No-Fault Handbook”. Rich Ancowitz is recognized by lawyers throughout New York State as a leading authority on automobile insurance issues and automobile accident cases.
Mr. Ancowitz, a graduate of Brooklyn Law School, the University of Rochester, and the Bronx High School of Science, was director of the Automobile Litigation Unit at one of New York’s leading personal injury firms, The Cochran Firm, Schneider, Kleinick, Weitz, Damashek & Shoot, where he handled numerous complex litigation matters.
After over twenty years at the firm, in 2002 he founded The Law Office of Richard B. Ancowitz. The firm practices throughout New York State, and has offices in Albany, Manhattan, and The Bronx. Mr. Ancowitz is admitted to practice in both New York and Florida.
